**[EN]** The material includes surface temperature interpretation of water areas based on the midday observations of the Landsat-8 satellite TIRS instrument with a terrain separation capability of 100 m. The temperature interpretation has been calculated using a split-window method calibrated to Finnish conditions. Land and cloud areas have been identified and removed by means of an automatic water catchment detection method, after which the interpretation has been manually checked. The temperatures of the data reflect the temperature of the surface film of the waters during the overflight of the Landsat-8 satellite on observation days (approximately 11 a.m. to 12:00 Finnish time, i.e. from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. UTC0 time). The material is produced in two stages. After each overflight, the first release will be the Near Real Time (NRT) version with track and noise parallel to the overflight path. The NRT version shall be updated to a quality certified and corrected no later than 14 days after the overflight. The material is part of SYKE’s open data (CC BY 4.0). Purpose: Monitoring the surface temperature of lakes in the Baltic Sea and Finland. *** **[En]** The dataset contains water surface temperatures for water bodies retrieved from the TIRS-instrument onboard the Landsat-8 satellite platform in 100 m spatial resolution. The temperature is computed using a split-window method calibrated for Finnish water bodies. Land areas and clouds are identified and removed by an automatic process, after which the products are quality controlled manually. The temperatures represent the surface film temperature of the water bodies during the overpass time of the Landsat-8 satellite (approximately 9-10 UTC time). The production process is two-tiered. The first publication after a satellite overpass is the NRT version, which contains noise and striping along the overpass path.
