The Register of Laws is published annually for the whole country on the basis of information from the land register and the Register of Property. The issue is under the auspices of the Ministry of Industries and Innovation, but according to the second paragraph of Article 26 of the Land Act No. 81/2004, the Ministry may entrust other parties with the task of drawing up the Constitution. Since 2010, Registers Iceland has had the role of issuing the legal estate register and is kept in the rights section of the real estate register. According to the Land Law, the legal farm that has been issued with a special permit from the Minister for the Law of Rurals is considered to be declared a permit. During the registration, the property in question has a special meaning in the registration section of the real estate register and appears in the next legal estate register to be published.
The register of residences that has now been published contains information on more than 6,600 legal farms registered in the country today.
