Dataset description

The Nature Network Brabant (NNB) is a coherent network of nature reserves and agricultural areas with natural values of (inter)national importance, such as the forests, the heath and fens, the drift dunes, the scary grasslands, the rivers and streams. The aim of the NNB policy is to safeguard ecosystems and to realise habitats with good conditions for biodiversity. These habitats are important for animal and plant species. Protect and develop. The protection takes place through the spatial definition of the boundaries of the Nature Network Brabant (NNB) in the Interim Environment Regulation. The Interim Environment Regulation North Brabant requires that a zoning plan should be aimed at protecting and developing nature. The type of nature to which the requirements of the zoning plan should be directed is not regulated in the interim environmental regulation itself, but in the Nature Management Plan adopted by the Member States. The development and management of the NNB takes place through the subsidy system nature and landscape management and associated nature management plan (ambition map). The boundaries of the NNB map of the Interim Environment Regulation and the ambition map from the Nature Management Plan are determined once a year in September in conjunction with each other and changes are then processed over and over again. In addition, the limit of the NNB in the Interim Environment Regulation is also amended occasionally in the course of the year on the basis of and for the benefit of municipal zoning plans. For the most recent version of the NNB’s borders, the website of www.ruimtelijkeplannen.nl should therefore be consulted.
