Dataset description

The area seized by a regional flood defence. The map layer shows the inner dikes designated by the province via the Zeeland Environment Regulation 2018 (Annex 8 regional flood defences — system — standards). Inner dikes with such a function are called regional barriers. Within the regional barrier system, a distinction is made between ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ regional barriers. A separate category consists of ‘wet’ regional barriers designated by Rijkswaterstaat; these are located along the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal and the Antwerp Canal Building.
