Dataset description

The product Maps and Geomagnetic Models of Spain presents three different types of documents. 1-Geomagnetic map of Spain of a given reference period: It consists of between one and five cartographic documents, covering the peninsular territory of Spain and the Balearic Islands or, alternatively, the territory of the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Each document contains the isolines of a given component of the Earth’s magnetic field and may also contain the isopores (secular variation isolines) corresponding to the component. The five possible documents are maps of Magnetic Declinations (magnetic Declination, D), Horizontal ISODINAMICAS (horizontal component, H), Vertical ISODINAMICAS (vertical component, Z), Total ISODINAMICAS (total field, F) and Isoclines (magnetic inclination, I). 2-Map of Magnetic Anomalies: It usually represents the isolines of the residual field (difference between the intensity of the magnetic field at a given reference period, obtained from the processing of measurements of airborne sensors, and the total field predicted by the IGRF model for the same time). Alternatively, the map may consist of different cartographic documents containing the anomaly isolines corresponding to components D, H and Z. Depending on its publication date, the map covers the mainland of Spain, the Iberian Peninsula, the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands or the Canary Islands. 3-Reference Geomagnetic Model for the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands in 2020.0: It is a regional model of internal internal geomagnetic field that allows to synthesise the components north (X), east (Y), Z, H, F, D and I, as well as the secular variation corresponding to each component, at any point of the territory and with reference to the time 2020.0. The model materialises in a file that provides this data at the points of a regular mesh that covers the entire territory.
