Dataset description
The project “Geological Research and Basic Cartography in the Pyritic Strip and surrounding areas” (ICFP), which was undertaken by the Mine Service with the collaboration of the Geological Mining Institute of Spain, was carried out between 1997 and 1999 and is a deepening of the previous work developed in this same area by both agencies. The successful companies were a Temporary Union of Companies, INFAPIR, formed by INIMA, INGEMISA and EPTISA, and the company CGS.
This project includes the update of the basic geological mapping published by the IGME within the MAGNA program (National Geological Map at 1:50,000 scale), supported by detailed research work carried out by mining companies and by public institutions such as the IGME.
The project includes basic geological mapping at 1:50,000 scale, comprising the entire area of study and a more detailed mapping at 1:25,000 scale of areas of particular mining interest. Basic mapping ensures continuity between the different leaves. Each of the sheets contains, in turn, a series of thematic layers that can constitute a single layer of information by having lateral continuity. Together with the cartographic, a report of each of the sheets that form the project is attached, which describes the geological information contained in the geological maps, including the description of the geological, stratigraphic, petrology, tectonics, economic geology and tectosedimentary evolution of the corresponding area, together with a bibliography used for the writing of this report.
In addition, the information resulting from geological investigations, included in an annexed database, is collected. The geological research data are composed of the results of a series of studies (absolute ages, clays, paleontology, micropaleontology, carbonate petrology, igneous rock petrology, metamorphic rock petrology, terrigen petrology, alterations and geochemistry) carried out on samples collected during the field campaigns carried out during the project. In addition to the above, there is general information about the project, not associated with the analysis of any specific sample. These are mining evidence data, gravimetric profiles, hydrology, reservoirs, stratigraphic columns and descriptive information of the project.
