Planned Rail Network

Digital base of the planned railway network in Andalusia. It includes the different routes and their categories, being able to differentiate between the different categories according to the services (High Performance Network and conventional network) and the type of transport carried out (goods or passengers). Information is also available regarding the electrification of the track as well as the gauge of the track differentiating between UIC and Iberian gauge. It is generated with the intention that it serves as a homogeneous reference for planning tasks of the Autonomous Administration. It aims to respond to the needs of the “Infrastructure Plan for Transport Sustainability in Andalusia (PISTA 2007-2013)”. The information has been collected at various levels of observation, although it is assumed that 1:100,000 would be the minimum scale at which representation is reliable. The data, which are in shape format, have been updated weekly since 2006 in the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the body responsible for information, despite the fact that the competences in the field of the railway network are from the National Geographical Institute, Ministry of Development.
