Biogeographical regions (Habitats Directive)

Biogeographical regions according to the classification used in the Habitats Directive. Designation, follow-up and reporting for terrestrial habitat types under the Directive are based on these regions. The dataset covers only Sweden (Alpine, Boreal and Continental Region) based on the dataset provided by the EEA, but has been adjusted to cover only Sweden and the Boreal and continental region have been adjusted to include coastal areas as well. The original dataset (available via the EEA website) contains a generalised coastline (which is not in line with the GGD). In the Swedish dataset, we have chosen to remove this generalised coastline in order to be able to calculate statistics on all terrestrial habitats.
