Road data for transport planning is a processed data product that is generated from a number of types of phenomena (basic data products). The product is created by inheriting a number of interesting properties from the various basic data products into a common network of links through a process called homogenisation. Homogenised data means that the attributes of the ingoing phenomenon types apply across an entire segment (link). Where attributes change, the link ends and a new segment begins. What attributes a user needs depends on the type of vehicle and to what purpose the routing or transport planning should be done.
