Dataset description

Sintering tuff springs are rare in the limestone Alps, but as habitat type 7220 Cratoneurion (FFH Annex 1) of particular protection and high interest. The campaign aims to explore the biodiversity of the few sources, mostly located in the edges of the Gesäuse National Park. Tuff sources are listed as the only source habitat type in the Habitats Directive. The current study will examine the extent to which alpine tuff sources as habitats differ significantly from the other source types and whether specialists for this habitat may be found.
