Dataset description

It should be noted that the improvement of the current fish ecological situation, not least of the good ecological potential, and, as a result of sustainable fisheries management, is actually only possible if the abiotic conditions, above all the hydrological situation, are improved. The damping of the impact of spills, a better solution with regard to regular storage room flushing and a revision of the residual water discharge are the basis on which the ecological and fisheries remediation of the enns in the review section can then be carried out. This ecological and fisheries restoration needs to be implemented in the long term, with the objective of both aspects being the same over the first few years. The development of reproductive stocks of the main species in the Enns here in the section under consideration is, of course, also a prerequisite for the subsequent, sustainable fishing exploitation. The first step towards this refurbishment, the existing structure of grayling and brook trout, should be taken more extensively and immediately. Waiting for a solution to the hydromorphological problems and then starting to build up the stock would take many years more. The establishment of a multi-year grayling and brook trout project should be carried out in cooperation with the Gesäuse-Gstatterboden fishing association with the Gesäuse National Park and its upper planes in the Enns section near Admont. In the event of the success of such a project, at best, a sufficiently large and stable fish stock can be built up, which also has a higher resilience to negative developments.
