Dataset description

The digital terrain height model (DGM) describes the earth’s surface (natural soil, without vegetation) in the form of point quantities arranged in a regular grid and georeferenced in position and height. Additional terrain structures such as fracture lines, shape lines and striking individual points complement the regular elevation grid and provide detailed information about Austria’s topography. From the digital terrain height model, a grid is interpolated with a selectable grid width. This elevation grid is used for the calculation of orthophotos and for various forms of terrain representation.
