Dataset description

Following the completion of the field work and initial evaluation in 2019, an activity report will be presented to present the first interim results of the 2019 fishing activities in the inner reed belt at observed feeding sites of piscivor birds. The 2019 review programme included electrofishing in three selected areas of the reed belt: Sandegg, Ruster Poschn in the area of Illmitz and Mörbischer Blänken north of Mörbisch. In addition, a fishing date from the current reed project REBEN Reed Belt Neusiedl/Fertö in the area of the Wulka estuary was taken into account. At the three sites, after consultation with ornithologists, various fish-eating bird species, in particular herons (grey and silver heron, cormorant and dwarf scarves) were observed during hunting. In 2019, the fish density and fish biomass were surveyed along the reed edges in the aforementioned areas by means of electrofishing from the boat.
