Dataset description

The aim of the work is to develop a mapping key for morphological recordings (including a methodology for recording changes in the landscape). Based on the 2008 test mapping and the division of the building into spatial units, a feasibility study for the entire area of the Gesäuse National Park is to be submitted. The chapter on the monitoring plan will consider how changes can be recorded and quantified in the future. The following added value will be achieved through the studies: — The interpretation is self-contained (does not require Habitalp as a basis) and can be extended with further parameters when an area is first taken. — The inclusion of morphographic properties (height, slope inclination, exposure and form) leads to a precise description of habitats. — The inclusion of the morphological form, including an interpretation of the near-surface subsurface, also serves to characterise habitats. — The interpretation of dynamic properties in the landscape (not only in relation to morphology) provides for the first time an overview of the development of habitats based on a large study area. The results are the basis of long-term monitoring and document current processes in the protected area. The interpretation is primarily based on aerial image, orthophoto and laser scan models. Terrain inspections are used for checking, or supplementing in areas that are difficult to interpret.
