Dataset description

Arianta Volume 8, 6-12 Summary: The narrow diaper snail Vertigo angustior is listed in Annex II to the Fauna Flora Habitats Directive. For so-called FFH species, long-term survival in protected areas should be ensured. In order to prevent deterioration in conservation status, there is a monitoring and reporting obligation for EU Member States. In the course of the base survey of V. angustior around Lake Neusiedl, occurrences of this very small snail species were sought in selected habitats. It has been detected in eight places in the west and north shores, in the Seewinkel and in the Hanság it has not yet been found. Coincidentally, a population of the abdominal diaper snail Vertigo moulinsiana, another FFH-rt, was discovered. This is so far the only site for & 776;r Burgenland, where this species is still alive. A total of 31 taxa were detected, with 30 determined at species level. Of these 19 are considered non-endangered in Austria (LC), three species are at risk (NT: Pupilla muscorum, Truncatellina cylindrica and Vertigo antivertigo are at risk (VU: Anisus spirorbis, Physa fontinalis and Segmentina nitida), three are highly endangered (EN: Aplexa hypnorum, Vallonia enniensis and Vertigo moulinsiana) and one is at risk of extinction (CR: Valvata macrostoma). Euconulus praticola could not be classified due to the lack of data (DD). Survey in the context of the project “Vogelwarte 2”
