Dataset description

The zoological programme for the monitoring of the summit fauna has been set up to accompany the monitoring of vegetation in selected summit areas of the Gesäuse National Park. The focus is on the question of the probability of survival of (high-)alpine endmites in the Gesäuse National Park under the influence of climate change. The report (Part I) provides results on the protected objects and bioindicators of running beetles, bedbugs and small mammals. This report (Part I) provides results on the protected objects and bio-indicators of running beetles, bedbugs and small mammals. In a subsequent editing (spring 2011) the results for spiders and weavers (part II) will be presented. The central topic of the present investigation is the question of the spread of zoologian endmites, sub-endemites and characteristic summit inhabitants in the Gesäuse National Park. How often or how rare are individual target types? What hazards and what local extinction probabilities exist for them? Is climate change a major threat to these taxa? Are there (potential) evasive habitats and what protective measures need to be taken?
