Air Quality Measurements in Austria 2020 — Annual Report

The annual report documents the results of the air quality measurement of the federal states and the Federal Environment Agency for the year 2020.The measurement results show: For the pollutants NO2, PM10, PM2.5, CO and ozone, the lowest exposure has been measured so far.The IG-L limit values for the annual average for nitrogen dioxide were exceeded at seven measuring points. In the case of benzo(a)pyrene, sulphur dioxide and dust precipitation (incl. lead), isolated exceedances of limit values were measured in accordance with IG-L.The target values for ozone were exceeded in most of Austria.The IG-L limit and target values for fine dust (PM10), carbon monoxide, PM2.5, heavy metals and benzene were met throughout Austria in 2020.The lockdown in spring resulted in a significant decrease in nitrogen dioxide and ozone levels.
