Dataset description

This report on Austria’s Annual Air Emission Inventory 1990-2012, compiled by the Umweltbundesamt (Environment Agency Austria), provides a summary of Austria’s provisional emission inventory for the year 2012 and the final emission inventory for the year 2011 according to Article 8 of the NEC Directive. Over the period between 2011 and 2012, emissions of sulphur dioxide (SO2) decreased by 4.4 % while nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx) decreased by 2.4 % and ammonia emissions (NH3) decreased slightly by 0.1 %. Emissions of non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs) increased by 5.6 % during the same period. A comparison with the national emission ceilings to be attained by 2010 shows that emissions of SO2, NMVOC and NH3 were below these ceilings, whereas the NOx emissions were significantly above them.
