Dataset description

The timber industry is an important industry in Austria and it generates significant amounts of resources. The study outlines relationships between timber enterprises in terms of quantities, product requirements, the use of environmental technologies and environmental protection (European Technology Action Plan measure) and describes selected examples. The focus is on business branches that process most of the wood and whose production figures tend to increase. These are: Sawing, paper and panel industries and the field of energy use of wood and wood materials. As a result, the supply and demand for saw by-products are also growing for both material and energy use, leading to competitive situations between industries and types of use.
