Chemical-Physical Treatment Plants in Austria 2009

The report of the Federal Environment Agency describes 44 plants for chemical-physical waste treatment. In 2009, 17 establishments treated organic waste, 10 plants processed only inorganic waste and 15 were operated as combined plants; two plants were out of operation. The maximum annual processing capacity of these plants is about one million tonnes of waste per year and the processed quantity was approximately 600,000 tonnes. In addition to the processing capacity, the nature and quantity of the treated waste, the processes used, the various disposal and recovery routes and the remaining quantities of residues are also presented. The results of the study will be included in the Federal Waste Management Plan 2011.
