Dataset description

In the 2009 Climate Protection Report, the Federal Environment Agency analyses the sectoral emission trends until 2007 and presents the targets of the European Union’s climate and energy package for 2020 for Austria. Analysis of emission scenarios shows that further measures in the field of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources will be necessary to achieve these objectives. In 2007, Austria’s greenhouse gas emissions were 88 million. Tonnes. Taking into account the reductions resulting from the use of flexible mechanisms and new forest management and deforestation, a reduction requirement of around 8.1 million tonnes is required to achieve the Kyoto target. Compared to the sectoral objectives of the climate strategy, the transport and industrial and manufacturing sectors showed the greatest divergences, while space heating and small-scale consumption were below for the first time.
