Dataset description

In the report “Emissionstrends 1990-2008” the Federal Environment Agency gives an overview of the anthropogenic caused air pollutants in Austria: • Dust — total floating dust (TSP), fine dust (PM10 and PM2.5) • ozone precursors — nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile hydrocarbons without methane (NMVOC), carbon monoxide (CO) • acidifying and eutrophic air pollutants — sulphur dioxide (SO2), ammonia (NH3), nitrogen oxides (NOx) • heavy metals — cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), Lead (Pb) • Persistent Organic Compounds (POPs) • Greenhouse gases — carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), fluorinated gases The main polluters are analysed and compare current emission data with mandatory environmental targets. The data are based on the results of the Austrian Air Pollutant Inventory, which is compiled annually by the Federal Environment Agency.
