Dataset description

In cooperation with experts from WIFO, CESAR, e-think, AEA, TU Graz and TU Wien, the Federal Environment Agency has developed scenarios to identify ways to achieve a climate-friendly future in Austria. While the baseline scenario “WEM” continues previous developments, the “Transition” scenario assumes the energy transition as a socio-political objective. For the “Transition” scenario, changing framework conditions, technological innovations and changes in consumption patterns play a central role. The results show that the defined framework conditions and potential measures can achieve large-scale reductions in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 (-81 % in 1990). It is also expected to have positive effects on economic growth, employment and income.
