Dataset description

As part of the project “Strategic framework for a prioritisation for restoring ecosystems at national and sub-national levels”, the map of Austria’s biotope types (Peterseil 2013) was updated and thematically expanded by adding additional data sources. In the project mentioned above, the map serves as a spatial basis for the creation of a state map in which the degree of degradation of ecosystems or landscapes is shown. Since the biotope mapping of the federal states is selective and not comprehensive mapping, or because biotope mapping data are not available for all federal states, it was necessary to integrate numerous additional data bases. The EUNIS classification (Davies et al. 2004). All input data have been referenced. As far as possible, reference was made to EUNIS level 3. Card as grid Tiff, 10 m resolution available.
