Dataset description

According to the Fuel Quality Directive, compliance with environmental quality standards for fuels must be reviewed and reported annually as part of the Fuel Quality Monitoring System. Since 2003, the Federal Environment Agency has carried out these quality controls in Austria. In 2010, around 8.05 million tonnes of fuel were sold in Austria, 6.23 million tonnes (about 77 %) of which were diesel. In order to check the quality of fuel, a total of 303 samples were taken at 303 petrol stations throughout Germany — 150 of them in winter and 153 in the summer. Diesel fuel has been tested for compliance with ON EN 590, petrol for ON EN 228 compliance. A total of 9 deviations from the established standard parameters were found (6 exceedances of the maximum vapour pressure, 2 of the maximum sulphur content and 1 during boiling).
