Dataset description

This data set contains groundwater priority areas to secure the drinking water supply, which are designated as zones. In the field “Type” these areas are assigned to the following categories: 1) Water protection areas (legal and planned water conservation areas for the preventive protection of basic and drinking water and healing springs). 2) Water management framework directives for groundwater and drinking water. 3) Regional water management programmes for groundwater and drinking water. Explanation: The groundwater priority areas contain area data that go beyond the “general groundwater protection”, i.e. that of special and preventive groundwater protection. Water protected areas, which also fall within this topic area, are presented in a separate layer due to the clarity.
