Dataset description

As part of a human biomonitoring study, the Federal Environment Agency, in cooperation with the University of Vienna, investigated environmental chemicals, mycotoxins, phytoestrogens and body-own estrogens as well as their metabolites in the urine of 85 primary school children from eastern Austria. Links between exposure to certain substances and nutritional, lifestyle and environmental factors have also been identified. Further studies from countries in Europe and worldwide show largely comparable results. The first Austrian human biomonitoring study, in which such a wide range of substances were studied, supports the demands and measures of the new European Chemicals Strategy for a toxic-free environment.
