Dataset description

For the discussion of climate and energy targets for 2030 and 2050, the Federal Environment Agency has prepared three scenarios for the industry sector. The WEM scenario takes into account measures already implemented and additional measures are included in the WAM scenario. In the WAM plus scenario, further developments such as increased energy efficiency, deployment of fundamental new technologies and structural changes (improved recycling, more durable products) are modelled to achieve a significant reduction in energy consumption. The results show that the energy sector’s total consumption by 2050 will increase by 99 PJ to 615 PJ in the WEM scenario and 56 PJ to 573 PJ in the WAM scenario, while the WAM scenario falls by 117 PJ to 399 PJ. The scenarios were financed by the Climate and Energy Fund.
