Maes/EUNIS Habitat Map 10 m

Within the framework of this project, a map of the biotope types of Austria was created. It served as the basis for the designation and identification of the “sensitive habitats”, which are used in the evaluation of the exceedance of critical nitrogen inputs (Critical loads). Since biotope mapping is not available in all federal states or does not cover the entire federal area, it was necessary to use and integrate further existing information. As a basis for integrating the different data bases, the classification of habitats according to EUNIS (Davies et al. 2004). All input data have been mapped to this classification system. Empirical critical loads are available for the different habitats (United Nations 2010). HAB_ESc_1_2 — Generalisation of Austria’s habitat map to MAES Ecosystem Types (Fiala, 2013)
