Dataset description

Every six years, the European Union and its Member States prepare a report on the status of habitat types and species of Community interest in accordance with Article 17 of the Habitats Directive (FFH). In order to prepare the Article 17 report, the Federal Environment Agency, on behalf of the federal states, carried out database research and field surveys for habitat types and species of the Habitats Directive in Austria in 2016-2018. A total of 5,560 sample areas were tested for the presence and conservation status of 31 habitat types and 38 species. 140 experts were involved in the surveys. The report presents methodology and results in detail. The results of this monitoring were reported to the European Commission in 2019 in the report under Article 17 of the Habitats Directive.
