Dataset description

In 2007, the Gesäuse National Park initiated a management to combat invasive neophytes. Initially, only individual areas were processed. Since 2010, annual actions have been extended to the entire protected area. The focus is on the free-keeping of sensitive habitats such as avalanche troughs, avalanches, riparian areas, etc. The following three species are actively combated: Glandy springwort (Impatiens glandulifera), Canada and giant gold rod (Solidago canadensis, S. gigantea) and Japanese perennial nodule (Fallopia japonica). So far, this has been well achieved in many parts. Problems arise in the outskirts of the national park, such as roads, railways and settlement areas. For this reason, subsequent mapping has been carried out. It is intended to identify possible danger zones for the introduction of neophytes into the protected area. Furthermore, this mapping can serve as a basis for a serious fight on the part of the municipality of Gstatterboden/Admont, the Styria regional forest and volunteers. Suggested methods of processing the individual neophyte deposits and an assessment of the dominance of the stocks are mentioned.
