Purpose and brief description The index of agricultural prices is primarily intended to analyse the evolution of prices and their impact on agricultural income. The indices of prices are intended to provide information on the evolution of the marketing prices of agricultural products and the average purchase prices of agricultural inputs. These indexes make it possible to compare the evolutions in the different Member States with them in the European Union, on the one hand, and of the different products within a given Member State or within the European Union on the other. They should also help to compare the evolution of sales prices with those of the average purchase prices of agricultural products. Index of the prices of inputs: This is the price index based on the purchase of agricultural inputs excluding the purchase of agricultural products as inputs. Average price of agricultural and horticultural products; This is the average price the farmer receives when selling agricultural products.
