Brownfield Covenants, Condition 30/09/2019

The Flemish Government wishes to encourage and facilitate the redevelopment of abandoned industrial sites (so-called brownfields) by concluding agreements with project developers and investors. Such a covenant gives project promoters and investors a number of legal, administrative and financial advantages in the development of abandoned and underused business sites. In doing so, the Flemish Government aims to encourage them to re-use preferably abandoned sites (brownfields) instead of cutting new areas (greenfields) for the development of industrial activities, housing or recreation.
