Dataset description

Ultrafine dust (UFP) are particles with a diameter of less than 100 nm. The VMM measures UFP particles from 10 to 100 nm. About 90 % of the number of particles in the air are ultrafine dust particles In an urban environment, traffic is the main source of ultrafine dust, but also industry and households (building heating) contribute to UFP emissions. Because of their very small size, ultrafine dust can penetrate deep into the lungs, enter the bloodstream and cause harmful effects elsewhere in the body
