Dataset description

The flow map shows the lines in the landscape where the water flows potentially concentrated after a rain shower, taking into account the topography and the watercourses present. A distinction is made between the flow chart with single streamlines and the flow map with multiple streamlines. With the flow map with single streamlines, the calculation algorithm draws all the flowing water in a pixel to the lowest surrounding pixel (Single Flow Direction). This creates concentrated, clearly delineated flow lines that represent the locations in the landscape with the most chance of draining. When multiple streamlines are used, the calculation algorithm derives all the flowing water in a pixel proportionally to all lower-lying pixels, with the lowest-lying pixel receiving the most flow and the least low-lying pixel receiving the least flow (Multiple Flow Direction). This creates diffuse flow lines that gives a more realistic picture of flooding over a slope.
