Dataset description

The demographics of companies in the profit sector with employees (or demography of employers in the profit sector) provide information on the activity, employment and legal form of companies employing at least one employee during the reference year in Belgium. This group is a subset of active enterprises (LINK). The methodology is identical. This statistics also provides economic births and deaths in Belgium. Please note: a birth here does not necessarily correspond to a birth in the demographics of enterprises, because a company can operate in year T and can only have employees a few years later (T+k). Only in T+k will the company be considered a birth in the demographics of employers. For the last year, the mortality figures are provisional figures. NACE profit sector enterprises (rev. 2) B to N and P to S with the exception of K642, with 1 employee. Documentation demographics of enterprises. The Demography of enterprises in the market sector with employees (or Demography of employers in the market sector) provides information on the activity, employment and legal form of companies with at least 1 employee during the reference year in Belgium. It is a subset of the active companies The methodology is identical. This statistic also shows births and deaths in Belgium. However, the interpretation of these concepts differs from that of the demographics of active companies. In fact, it should be noted that a birth here does not necessarily correspond to a birth in corporate demographics, as this is called the birth of an employer. So if we consider getting a company active in T1 and having employees only a few years later (in T2>T1, for example), we see a birth in T1 in the demographics of active companies and a birth, but in T2 in the demography of employers. Conversely, in the event of death, the loss of the status of employer is called termination. If a company loses its employees in T3, it is considered a termination in T3, but it should not be a termination in company demographics because it can remain active. The terms “Number of employees in enterprises that have ceased their activities in t” and “Number of employees in enterprises incorporated in t” should be understood as the number of employees in enterprises that will lose their employer status in t+ 1[1] and the number of employees in enterprises that have hired in t. Accuracy around last year’s mortality rates As with the demographics of the active companies, the death figures for the past year are provisional. [1] In t these companies still have employees, but the following year (i.e. t+ 1) these companies no longer have employees
