Dataset description

‘Regional plan, vector’ is a dataset series in digital vector format of the soil destinations in Flanders according to the regional plans. The soil destinations refer to the general and additional (special) urban planning regulations as they were laid down for all the Flemish regional plans. The Regional Plans were drawn up in implementation of the Law on Spatial Planning and Urban Planning of 1962 and have not been amended in themselves since 2002 (exception is the inclusion of information on the cancellation of booking strips and line infrastructure to be built — Flemish Government Decree of 14/12/2018). However, they remain an important instrument for spatial policy, because in most places in Flanders they are the only spatial planning plan in force. On the other hand, other spatial planning plans may apply in many places, drawn up by the Flemish Region, the provincial authorities or the municipal authorities. The regional plan often does not reflect the entire legal planning context in one place. No rights can be derived from the maps based on this dataset series. The information contained in the maps is purely informative and not legally binding. In order to find out about the legal planning context of a particular plot or area, you should contact the town planning department of the relevant municipal authority. The digital regional plans were created on the basis of the original regional plan (change) drawn up on a map scale 1/10,000. Consequently, this digital version is only suitable for medium-scale use, in particular with maximum usage scale 1/10,000. The combined consultation of this file with large-scale plot maps is cartographically incorrect and does not provide an indication of the legal planning context of a plot. This digital file has been compiled with the utmost care, with the original legally valid regional plans as the basis. However, it is not excluded that certain information is outdated, incomplete or incorrect. Thus, the information shown cannot be considered as a “declared copy” of the original regional plan (changes). This dataset series was drawn up by vectorisation of the maps of the 25 regional plans established in the period 1976-1980. These cards are formatted on map scale 1:10.000. All adjustments resulting from the later approved regional plan changes are integrated into the dataset series. In the event that judgments of the Council of State were issued which led to the destruction of certain parts of the regional plans, the regional plan was restored in almost all cases in the pre-destruction state. An overview of all operations carried out can be found in the metadata of this dataset series under the heading Quality, Edits, Process folders.
