Dataset description

An excess of nutrients in the surface water can lead to excessive algae blooms, for example, which greatly decreases visibility and the oxygen balance can become problematic. Net emissions or losses are the dirt cargo that effectively ends up in surface water. The emissions of N and P from agriculture are calculated using the Nutrient Emission MOdel (NEMO). Agriculture has an important share of net emissions of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) to surface water. Net emissions from nitrogen to surface water from agriculture show no clear evolution over the period 2010-2019. The trend for phosphorus appears to be slightly decreasing.
