Dataset description

This map gives an overview of established conservation areas around groundwater extractions in the Flemish region. A protection zone is the geographical area defined in accordance with Article 3.2 of Decree of 24 January 1984 laying down groundwater management measures in order to safeguard groundwater in a water catchment area against pollution. The procedure for achieving the demarcation was laid down by Decree of the Flemish Government of 27 March 1985 regulating and permitting the use of groundwater and the delimitation of wetlands and protection zones.
