Dataset description

The ecological status of surface waters is not only determined by biological and physico-chemical quality. A third important factor is hydromorphology which includes aspects such as flow pattern, meandering and bank structure. A water body with a natural hydromorphology offers a wide variety of biotopes and thus more opportunities for biodiversity. In addition, good hydromorphology increases the self-purification capacity and thus also the water quality.
