Lithological descriptions

When a drilling is carried out, a description is made of the material that is tapped. One describes the texture, the type of material, the color, minerals, fossils,... per depth interval. This can be done both on the field and afterwards if the samples are stored. These descriptions can be done, for example, by the drill master or by a geologist. Usually, the bore is described per depth interval on which the same material is recognised. The degree of detail of the description may depend on the purpose for which the drilling is carried out or who does the description: if it is to make a geological map, samples must be taken for laboratory analyses,... In DOV, the descriptions of openings above the earth’s surface, referred to as boreholes with depth 0 m, are described from 0 m to 0 m.
