Dataset description

Fertilising deposition includes the dry and wet deposition of nitrogenous compounds on the soil. Deposition is the result of transboundary air pollution, to which both Flemish and foreign emission sources contribute. The indicator shows modelled nitrogen deposition values for Flanders, composed of deposition of nitrogen oxides (NOy deposition) and ammoniacal nitrogen (NHx deposition). The modeling took place with the atmospheric distribution model VLOPs, this is the Flemish version of the Operational Priority Substances model. The model calculates concentrations and depositions of fertilising substances with a geographical resolution of 1x1 km². Input data for the model are: meteorological data, emission data from point and surface sources within and outside Flanders and data on receptor areas. Cross-border transport of emissions (import and export) is charged.
