Dataset description

Segmentation of the rail network according to the characteristics of the infrastructure and the possibilities of operation. This list includes the position but also the different official names of the operational points of the network and a classification. Important note: These operational points are to be studied with the game "Line Sections" because they represent the starting and end points of those sections. (Their identifiers are also cited in this dataset). These data are intended to allow schematic representations of the Belgian railway network (i.e. for a maximum scale of 1:25,000). This explains, for example, why the location of stations is not always accurate, as a single position sometimes represents almost 3 km of platforms for the largest stations in our country. These data are also published in the European Register of Infrastructure (RINF). Below you will find an explanation of the different names proposed by this dataset : Symbolic name: this name is used in telegraphic messages and in communications between computer systems. TAP/TAP Code: Official European designation according to the regulations in force for freight and passenger transport in Europe. TAP = "telematics applications for passenger services" and TAF = "Telematics Applications for Freight" . More information on the RailNetEurope website. Abbreviations BTS: Abbreviated name in capital letters in French and Dutch as set out in the Network Statement, Part D. Book of Train Service. Official names, short, medium and long, accentuated as they can be used in texts, email exchanges, ... Infrabel's internal classification of these points is also proposed.
