Dataset description

The preliminary reference file of municipal borders serves as a reference for the boundaries of Flemish municipalities for the GIS-Flanders.The location of the municipal boundaries is derived from information from KADSCAN, the scanned and theoretical cadastral plot plans. Furthermore, information from official sources has also been added, including border changes published in the Official Journal.The provisional municipal border reference file includes Flemish municipalities, districts, provinces and the Flemish Region.It is a “provisional reference file” pending the availability of a final reference file to be drawn up in cooperation with national institutions (NGI, NIS, AKRED).
