Salinisation map 2014 — Eastern coastal region (m-mv)

The map shows the depth of the 6?m interface in meters relative to the ground level. This interface can be considered as the interface between fresh and salt groundwater. By visualising the map together with the data points, one knows where effectively measured and where was interpolated. The map is the result of electromagnetic measurements carried out from the air in April 2014. The resistance of the subsurface was determined. The 6-m interface was deduced from this. Resistance (or resistances) of the subsurface less than 6?m can almost always be attributed to the presence of brackish or salt groundwater. The map is directional and gives an overall picture of the spatial distribution of salinity and unsalted sediments in the eastern coastal plain. In order to know in detail the local salinity distribution and lithological variation, further research by the end user is necessary.
