Dataset description

These are the data points of the two measurement campaigns (2014 and 2017) of the electromagnetic research from the air. The first campaign was carried out on the East Coast (Knokke-Heist, Bruges and Damme) in April 2014 in which the resistance of the subsurface was determined. A helicopter then flew parallel lines with an intermediate distance of 250 m, with the exception of the Zwin where an intermediate distance of 100 m was used. The second campaign was carried out as part of the European TOPSOIL project. In July 2017, the Western and Central coastal region (French border to Boudewijn Canal), the Meetjesland and Linkerscheldeoever were mapped. The Linkerscheldeoever sub-area was co-operated with MOW department Maritime Access, the Port Authority of Antwerp, Maatschappij Linkerscheldeoever and the Agency for Nature and Forest. In this study, a helicopter flew parallel lines with an intermediate distance of approximately 250 m. The data from both measurement campaigns was used to create the salinisation map 2014/2017 and indicates where effective measurement was made. The data points also include vertical profiles along the flight line that reflect the salinity of the groundwater. For interpretation, in addition to salinity, bulk resistivity (in ohm.m.), lithology, and stratigraphy are shown. In the figures there are regular interruptions, at these locations the helicopter could not perform reliable measurement. The horizontal resolution of these figures is the measurement resolution of the helicopter, with approximately one measurement per 20 to 40 m. The vertical resolution is the layer layout according to the inversion method used.
