Dataset description

The ‘bottom profiles mapping Belgian soil map’ dataset contains the most relevant information of all soil profiles (including soil horizons) from the Pottery-Flanders-2010 database. For a full view of all attribute information of the soil profiles, please refer to the complete Pottery-Flanders-2010 database. Pottery-Flanders-2010 is a database with the description and analysis results of 7,020 soil profiles and 42,529 associated soil horizons, supplemented by 9,281 surface samples, all located on the territory of Flanders and Brussels. These data (143 variables) were collected during the systematic soil profile study conducted in Belgium between 1949 and 1971, under the auspices of the Institute to encourage Scientific Research in Industry and Agriculture. The Centre for Ground Research of the University of Ghent with departments at the Catholic University of Leuven and the Faculty of Sciences Agronomiques de Gembloux was responsible for the realisation of this study.
