Dataset description

Download: https://s3-ant1.antwerpen.be/prd-open-data-datatank/raster/Thermografie_Antwerpen.zip This is the basic data for the Roof insulation card at http://antwerpen.duurzaamheidskaart.be . What is thermography?Thermography is a measurement method that uses radiation to map temperature. A thermal camera reads colors that are invisible to the human eye, such as ultraviolet or infrared. On such a thermographic map you will discover which surfaces were warm, or rather cold at the time of the recording. For a thermographic map, the temperature is not measured with a thermometer, but on the basis of heat radiation. After all, heat is energy, and it radiates. The measurement takes place from the air with an airplane. A thermal camera measures the frequency of the energy that radiates the ground and the roofs. With a similar heating pattern, a roof that is poorly insulated radiates a lot of energy and a roof that is good is much less. The map shows which homes lose heat through the roof. The map therefore mainly provides information about roofs that are poorly insulated and lose heat. Does it look like your roof is losing little or no heat? Then you need to know the situation of the moment of the recording. If the space under your roof is not heated, there is also no heat loss and does not automatically mean that your roof is well insulated! When was the thermophoto taken? The thermographic map you see on www.zoominopuwdak.be gives an indication of the heat loss of the roofs at the time the recordings took place: three cold nights in February and March of 2016. This card is a snapshot and not an absolute scientific instrument. The thermophoto is a joint project of 7 cities and municipalities in the vicinity of Antwerp.
