Flood hazard maps 2019

According to the Croatian Water Act, water was supplemented in 2019 by the flood hazard maps for river basin districts. Flood hazard maps (lands) provide an overview of possible developments in flood scenarios. The following flood scenarios were analysed: high probability floods, medium probability floods (reversible 100 years) and low probability floods including artificial floods due to possible demolition of embankments on larger watercourses and the demolition of high dams. Single flood lines for individual scenarios are defined as the anvelop flood lines of different flooding sources. The depths of water for unique flood lines are determined using the digital terrain model of the State Geodetic Administration. Topographic bases of the State Geodetic Administration, hydrometeorological substrates of the State Hydrometeorological Institute and mareographic substrates of the Croatian Hydrographic Institute were also used for the preparation of flood hazard maps. Position data are provided in the Croatian Terestic Reference System 1996 Transvers Merkator projections (HTRS96/TM).
