Dataset description

Denmark’s Address Register (DAR) is the authoritative Basic Data Register for addresses and road names. The aim is to provide fair addresses and road names to authorities, businesses and citizens. Public registers such as CPR, CVR and BBR are obliged to use only authoritative addresses from DAR. Addresses and road names are determined by the municipal address authorities in the DAR. Approximately 3.9 million addresses have been registered in DAR and around 111,000 road names. Address data is continuously updated, with approximately 230,000 changes in address data per year. Road names data, including the geometry of the road name, are continuously updated, with approximately 16,000 changes mainly in the geometry of the road name. An address is a composite term which designates and denotes a specific access road to an unbuilt area, a building, part of a building, a technical plant or the like. The compound name of an address consists of the road name, the house number, any floor name and door name, any additional town name and the postcode with the name of the postcode area in which the address is located. The address names of all addresses are unique at national level. Road names are represented by a geometry and are described as a total traffic area, regardless of the boundaries of the municipality for which a single road name has been determined. Road names are unique within a radius of 15 km and within a postal code. This ensures that identical or identical road names are not confused.
